Shawn Burger PT

Shawn Burger completed undergraduate studies at Pacific Union College, CA in 1995 and received his Bachelor of Science degree and Masters in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University, CA in 1998. Post graduate courses have included programs from Brian Mulligan and Richard Jackson. He is currently the Vice President of Burger Physical Therapy, Inc and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of 14 outpatient clinic sites that provide physical, occupational and speech therapy to the greater Sacramento area. Currently an instructor for the Graston Technique. Shawn has particular experience and clinical interest in ACL, rotator cuff repairs, and rehabilitation of total hip replacements. He has worked with many baseball pitchers using high level throwing rehabilitation techniques. He also specializes in post-operative and acute injury management.

Mike Cicero PT

Mike Cicero graduated from California State University – Sacramento in 1998, with his degree in Physical Therapy. He opened (2) private Outpatient therapy clinics over the following years and, recently, merged his business with another private practice group in Folsom, California. Mike is currently working as the Director of Outpatient Operations for this company and treating in one of his sites. Mike was a P.T. volunteer at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Track and Field Trials. Additionally, he volunteered as a P.T. for the National Junior Olympics. Mike is an assistant instructor for the Graston Technique and is a teaching partner with the CHW Family Practice Residency Program.

Gregory H. Doerr DC, CCSP, ART, CKTP

Dr Gregory H. Doerr, DC, CCSP is a graduate of the New York Chiropractic College. He completed a certification in Chiropractic Sports Medicine in 1998 (CCSP). Dr Doerr lectures for Graston Technique and The Council on Chiropractic and Extremity Procedures (CCEP). He has lectured at the US Olympic Training Center and internationally at the Central American Sports Medicine Congress on treatment and rehabilitation of the endurance athlete. Dr. Doerr has worked with athletes from the AVP Volleyball Tour in 2007, the Gold Cup in 2007, Central American Games in July of 2006, with Washington Redskins in March of 2004 and the University of Colorado in 2004. He currently is the chiroprator for two club soccer teams and a club volleyball team. Dr Doerr has a growing reputation with marathon runners treating athletes from running clubs in NJ and Manhattan. Both Dr. Doerr and Dr. Hyde have served on the medical staff for several mountain climbs to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research, including climbs of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa and El Misti in Peru.

Ted Forcum DC

Dr. Ted Forcum received a bachelor's degree from Willamette University, and achieved his doctorate from Western States Chiropractic College. During that time, he became a licensed massage therapist and an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Dr. Forcum is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP). He is certified in KinesioTaping (CKTP), Graston Technique, NASM Certified Exercise Specialist (CES), NASM Performance Exercise Specialist (PES), and is a Registered Trigenics Practitioner (RTP). Dr. Forcum was selected as a 2008 Beijing US Olympic Team Chiropractic, and 2007 Rio de Janeiro US Pan American Team Chiropractic. He has worked as an event physician for such events as the U.S Track and Field Olympic Trials, U.S Track and Field National Championships, U.S. Taekwando Championships, US Triathlon National Championships, World Veteran's Games, Nike World Masters Games, US Soccer Festival and US Figure Skating Championships. In 2004, Dr. Forcum was voted in as the 2nd Vice President of the American Chiropractic Association Council on Sports and Physical Fitness. Dr. Forcum is currently in private practice, as Director of Back in Motion Sports Injuries Clinic, LLC in Beaverton, Oregon.

Warren Hammer DC, MS, DABCO

Warren Hammer, a graduate of Lincoln Chiropractic College, has been in practice in Norwalk, Conn. since 1959. For the past 30 years, Dr. Hammer blends a keen interest in soft-tissue methods of healing with his expertise in spinal adjusting. He has studied numerous soft-tissue methods and applies them to the practice of chiropractic. Dr. Hammer's third edition of Functional Soft-Tissue Examination and Treatment by Manual Methods is available from Jones & Bartlett publishers. He writes a regular column for Dynamic Chiropractic and has written articles for prominent journals such as Chiropractic Sports Medicine, the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, Chiropractic Technique and the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. Dr. Hammer has been a consultant and instructor of Module II for Graston Technique since 2001.

Tom Hyde, DC, DACBSP, CKTP

Dr. Thomas Hyde, DC, DACBSP graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1977. He became the chiropractic consultant for the Miami Dolphins from 1990 through 1997. He also attended a 2 weeks sports medicine internship at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO in 1986 and served as the US chiropractor to the Pan American Games in 1987. Dr. Hyde served on the first RAND multidisciplinary panel on Low Back Pain, served as one of 35 on the Mercy Document and the CCGPP soft tissue section. He has traveled all over the US and many countries teaching treatment of athletic injuries and soft tissue injuries. He recently completed the second edition of Conservative Management of Sports Injuries published by Jones and Bartlett with his co-editor and co-contributor, Marianne Gengenbach. After sustaining a career ending injury in 1996, Dr. Hyde now spends his time lecturing and teaching. Currently, he has served on many Boards including the American Chiropractic Assn, Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness. He also served on Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in Florida. In 2009, Dynamic Chiropractic chose him as their, "Person of the Year." Dr. Hyde is the co-developer of FAKTR with Dr. Greg Doerr. He has his Diplomate in Sports Injuries and his International Sports Science Diploma. In 2009, he was awarded an Honorary member of the Royal Canadian Chiropractic Sports Science organization. His hobbies are hiking, mountain climbing, wildlife and outdoor photography and traveling with his wife.

Andre' Labbe' PT, MOMT

Andre' Labbe' PT, MOMT graduated from LSUMC Dept. of Physical Therapy in 1991. He received his Masters of Orthopedic and Manual Therapy from the Ola Grimsby Institute in 1997. He has been performing clinical research in the application of Janda Approach to Musculoskeletal treatment for the past 10 years. He has also performed research in the science and application of Sensorimotor Training Techniques in Physical Therapy. He has given over 100 workshops and lectures nationally and internationally on various topics associated with the evaluation and treatment of Musculoskeletal Dysfunction. He has also performed EMG research associated with application of Olympic lifting techniques to various sports and rehabilitation programs. Andre' is a clinician and owner of A&K Physical Therapy in New Orleans Louisiana where he lives with his wife Kathryn and their three children.

Dr. Ralph Mangels

Dr. Ralph Mangels is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College, class of 1990. Following graduation he continued post graduate studies in the fields of neurology, neurophysiology and rehabilitation. He was awarded his Diplomate degree by the American Board of Chiropractic Neurology in 1993. Currently Dr. Mangels is employed by South Shore Neurologic Associates / Chronic pain Options of Long Island, a regional interdisciplinary medical practice. His current clinical responsibilities center around the management of acute, subacute and chronic neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction. In addition he remains active as a post graduate faculty member teaching Assistive Soft Tissue Mobilization / rehabilitation techniques and electrophysiologic testing.

Phil Page, PT, ATC, MS, CSCS, CKTP

Phil Page is a licensed physical therapist, athletic trainer, and certified strength & conditioning specialist. He graduated from LSU in physical therapy and received his master's degree in exercise physiology from Mississippi State University. He has been involved in rehabilitation and sports medicine for over 20 years. His clinical and research interests include the role of muscle imbalance in musculoskeletal pain, and in promoting physical activity for health-related physical fitness, particularly for chronic disease management. Phil lectures extensively and provides workshops on a variety of topics around the world, including the Janda Approach to Muscle Imbalance. He has presented over 100 international lectures and workshops on exercise and rehabilitation topics, and has over 50 publications including 2 books. He is currently a PhD candidate in Kinesiology at Louisiana State University, concentrating in motor behavior. He has worked with the athletic programs at LSU, Tulane, the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks, as well as the United States Olympic Track and Field Trials.

Kay Pearce, BSc (Hons) MSc, DC, ICSSD

Dr. Pearce graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, England in 2001 with an honors degree in human science and a Masters in Chiropractic. Following this she completed the International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma (ICSSD) in Turin, Italy in 2006.

Later that year Kay worked trackside at the European Veterans Athletics championships, Posnan, Poland with the British Masters Medical Services. Since then she has also treated athletes at the British (outdoor) Track & Field championships in Birmingham in 2007 and 2009.

Kay has been the team medic for Trowbridge rugby football for 7 seasons where she is responsible for all pitch side first aid and both pre and post match treatments. Trowbridge have been in the RFU south west one league and travel across the south of England for match fixtures. Other events Kay has worked at include English premier league hockey tournaments and Iron man UK.

Kay worked in two busy UK practices until opening Maristow Chiropractic clinic in Wiltshire, England in 2003. She is currently a European Graston Technique Instructor.

Dr. Donna Strachan

Dr. Donna Strachan graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in 2001 with a Masters in Chiropractic. After spending her first 18 months in full time private practice she opened her first clinic, starting "The Chiropractic Clinic" which now has 4 clinics. These now house 9 full time chiropractors and a range of other clinical specialties including podiatry, chiropody, physiotherapy, massage, acupuncture and medicolegal GP's.

During this time, Donna developed her interest in treating within sports. She has treated athletes from many different sports including triathletes, rugby players, fencers and basketball from amateur to Olympic standard. Because of her commitment to providing the best treatment and exploring new and improved techniques, along with many other techniques, Donna became proficient in IASTM and Kinesiotaping. These culminated in FAKTR technique which she attributes to adding a new dimension to both her practice and treatment. Which is why she is so delighted to be a part of the FAKTR team.

In addition to lecturing FAKTR in the UK and Europe, Donna lectures for Graston in the UK and Europe and also lectures for the English Institute of Sport in the UK.

 

Dr. Sheila Wilson

Dr. Sheila Wilson is a summa cum laude graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Pittsburg State University and a postgraduate degree as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP). Dr. Wilson has also earned an International Sports Science Diploma (ICSSD).

In addition to treating patients at Georgetown Chiropractic Clinic, Dr. Wilson also works with athletes at sporting events. She has worked at the US Track and Field National Championships since 1999 and the Olympic Trials for Track and Field in 2000, 2004 and 2008. She has worked internationally at the 2005 and 2009 World Games, the 2003 Central American and Caribbean Games and the 1999 All African Games. Dr. Wilson worked with the World Olympians Association in 2002 at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. She is the Chiropractic Physician for the Indiana Invaders Track and Field Team.

Dr. Wilson has served on the board of directors of the American Chiropractic Association’s Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness as the Secretary and the President and the United States Sports Chiropractic Federation executive board as the Vice President. She is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and the Indiana State Chiropractic Association for which she chairs the Sports Committee and Convention Committee. Dr. Wilson is a board member of the Federation Internationale de Chiropratique du Sport and serves on the Games Commission.

Dr. Craig Kawaoka

Craig Kawaoka, DC, DACBSP, CSCS is currently the Clinical Director of the MS in Exercise and Sports Science Program at the University of Western States. Dr. Kawaoka has his Diplomate from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physician as well as being a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has been a Medical director, Team doctor or on Medical staff for various organizations and events in professional, amateur, collegiate and high school athletics. Dr. Kawaoka has done preclinical and post graduate lectures centering on sports medicine.
